Pegalis & Erickson, LLC has the distinction of receiving the two highest medical malpractice jury verdicts in the State of New York at the time. In 1998, Steven Pegalis won a $116 million verdict as against New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation for a child with severe brain injury as a result of her birth. In 2001, Stephen Erickson won a $114.8 million verdict as against St. Mary's Hospital in Brooklyn for a young woman who sustained severe brain injury while under the care of St. Mary's Hospital. In 2004, Steve Pegalis again won a record breaking verdict in the amount of $111.7 million for a young girl also severely injured as a result of events at or around the time of her birth. Throughout the years, the verdicts won on behalf of our clients have consistently been in the top levels both statewide and nationally.
