Stephen E. Erickson

Mr. Erickson has been voted for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America®, has been recognized as one of the Ten Leaders of Long Island in Civil Trial Law, and has been voted by his peers for inclusion in New York Super Lawyers.  Based on his national reputation, Mr. Erickson is routinely asked by other attorneys to handle the trial of their medical malpractice cases not only within New York State but outside of New York.  He has successfully handled medical malpractice trials in states from North Carolina to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.  Along the way he has won for his clients some of the highest verdicts throughout these jurisdictions.

Mr. Erickson’s successes have been reported on national television as well as national and statewide publications.  Some of Mr. Erickson’s successes include verdicts, which at the time, were the second highest verdict in New York State; seventh highest verdict in the entire country ($114.8 million); highest verdict ever obtained in an Erb’s palsy case in New York State ($6.1 million); highest verdict ever returned in LaCrosse, Wisconsin ($3.6 million); and one of the highest verdicts ever obtained in Nash County, North Carolina ($3.2 million).

As one of 15 children, Mr. Erickson learned early on the importance of taking care of others and he brings the same level of care and dedication to handling the needs of the firm’s clients.  He is well aware that the successful representation of a client’s case by the law firm of Pegalis & Erickson is the only hope that many clients have of obtaining necessary medical care, services and equipment as well as a degree of financial security for the family’s injured loved ones.  Mr. Erickson is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, is a member of the American Institute for Justice, a member of the New York State Bar Association and a member of the New Jersey Bar Association.  He has also achieved an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell, a rating which indicates that a lawyer has reached the height of his professional excellence and is recognized for the highest level of skill and integrity. 

Mr. Erickson is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.  He graduated cum laude from New York Law School where he was a member of Law Review and is also a graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta.
